We offer medical plans from major carriers Blue Cross, Blue Shield of TN, and Cigna, and free employee health clinics.

Retirement and Pension

Through the Tennessee Consolidated Retirement System, full-time HCS employees have a hybrid 401k / pension plan available to them. TCRS is considered one of the strongest funded pension plans in the nation and HCS employees are fully vested in the pension after only five years.

Dental and Vision Insurance

We offer two dental plans, including a base plan at no cost to the employee. Vision insurance is available through EyeMed.

Employee Clinics and Pharmacies

HCS employees enjoy three clinics and two pharmacies. The clinics are free for employees and their dependents and employees save hundreds of dollars on prescriptions through our pharmacies.

Wellness

Through Health Coaching services, coaches help employees create individualized plans to meet their health and wellness needs.

Telehealth and Counseling

Telehealth is a convenient way for employees to schedule well or sick visits, free of charge! Telehealth is available 24/7 and is offered to all Hamilton County Schools employees regardless of insurance enrollment. Dependents enrolled on HCS plans are also eligible. Behavioral Health telehealth, provided by licensed professional counselors and board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners, is also available to all HCS employees regardless of insurance enrollment.

Short & Long Term Disability

Both short term and long term disability are available to HCS employees. A base plan for short term disability is available at no cost to employees or employees may choose a buy up plan to cover 66 ⅔ of their earnings. Long-term disability benefits are available to full-time employees at no cost.

Life Insurance

Group term life insurance is available to full-time employees of HCS, including a policy provided at no cost to the employee. Employees may also purchase additional life insurance from a minimum of $50,0000 to a maximum of $500,000. Supplemental life coverage is also available to spouses and children.

Childcare

Through a partnership with Chambliss Center for Children, HCS employees have access to early childhood education and childcare programs in 12 Hamilton County Schools. In addition, HCS employees receive a significant discount for dependents enrolled in School-Age Childcare programs.
